But which colour?
I won’t be painting this cabinet (expect the smaller not so
noticeable parts) but for the larger plain coloured areas I intend
using laminate/Formica, this should not only give a more professional
finish than paint but also be a lot easier/quicker to apply (not to
mention not as messy).
| I’m decided on the two colour
design and I know I want the top half black but I’m still
not 100% sure which colour I want the bottom half.
I took a few different colours from my control panel image
and put together a test few renderings to show how the different
colours would look.
At present 1, 4 and 6
are my favourites; 1 as its bright as such
a contrast to the top half, 4 as this one colour
matches the graphics the best, and 6 as it’s
very subtle and gives the classic ‘big black box’
look. Hopefully I can make my mind up am decide on one before
I need to order the laminate!

For the top half I’ve decided I’d like to add some colour
by applying full sideart, again using the same graphics and design
style I used on my control panel.

The plan is to have the sideart
printed to glossy paper as I did with my control panel and the
affix if to the MDF sides with spray adhesive.
Then on top of this I will apply a layer of plexi-glass (as
with my CP) then secure this sandwich with a set of flat topped
black carriage bolts.
The top angled section and upper rear with be covered with
black laminate.
Speaking of which, I'm actually not having much luck finding
sheet laminate, if anyone knows of anywhere in the UK drop me
a mail thanks!

The last piece or artwork required for the cabinet and probably the
most important (every cab has one) is the Marrquee.
| With
the coloured bottom half, full colour sideart and illustrated
controller panel I’ve decided that I want to take a more
simplistic approach for the marquee.
I’ve taken the same theme for the image
but dropped the blue |

| space background and surrounding
border, leaving just the main logo over a simple gird. I’m
hoping to print this to transparent paper then I can use a florescent
strip for back lighting it. |
And to finish off the theme I've put together a matching Frontend
skin.
